Kirsty’s great outing with Mavis and Ray to meet Graham, the Chairman of Thermal Recycling – March 22

We got up early as we were off to Wolverhampton on a long awaited visit to Wolverhampton (because of COVID) to see the factory unit of Graham Gould https://www.thermalrecycling.co.uk/ Chairman at THERMAL RECYCLING (UK) LIMITED who has a great machine that heats Asbestos,

the first business in the world to build a plant to denature industrial quantities of asbestos in a commercially viable way.

Our purpose is to divert as much asbestos away from landfill as possible. Reducing the amount of hazardous waste sent to landfill makes an important contribution to building a more sustainable construction industry.

The asbestos roof sheets containing chrysotile are bought by the contractor to the demonstration plant in Wolverhampton Where they use a scientific process called denaturing to convert asbestos containing material to a new material then produce a sustainable aggregate using the new material

Very Exciting but first we had to travel. Kirsty Budenbender from DSK Environmental picked us up to drive us there I have to mention Electric cars here, as travelling all that way and the car only does 200 miles on a charge. We got to the service station an a kind man told us where the TESLA charger was hidden and I mean hidden. Over a bridge and in a hotel car park. It took 50mins to charge and thats a super charger. Why are they hidden Why arent they sign posted. The world is not ready for electric cars.

We arrived and Graham met us and so we were soon in the warm watching videos of the furnace an looking at the furnace. It was very interesting.

We left and said our goodbyes and off we went Guess what we travelled back the same charge point and with just 20 miles left we just made it. Had something to eat as the car charged and we were then ready to set off home again.
