Last month we were honoured to be invited on board the great HMS Prince of Wales. Kirsty’s brother – Petty Officer John Paul Stevenson – kindly organised the visit, and whilst there we met a few of the RN football team, whom DSK are very proud to sponsor. JP joined the Royal Navy in 2008 as an aircraft engineer, serving at RAF Wittering, then leading on to the Royal Marines and eventually the HMS Prince of Wales. In 2021 he was promoted to Petty Officer of the Avionics Workshop. We are incredibly proud of all his achievements.
Captain Will Blackett kindly invited us into his quarters and expressed his gratitude to us for the sponsorship. He joined the Royal Navy in 2001, and most recently he worked in the Ministry of Defence, where he was responsible for cohering defence policy with Navy capability planning.
We were privileged to get a full tour and see the pure majesty of the ship — she truly is a work of art. The biggest class of ship in the RN, the flight decks of the HMS Prince of Wales and her sister ship span roughly the size of three football pitches.
The exceptional work the Royal Navy carries out to protect and serve our country is truly incredible. Thanks to every single individual involved — past, present, and future.
We would like to send our extended thanks to both Captain Will Blackett and PO John Paul for their hospitality. Also, thanks to all the team on board who took their valuable time to explain the different aspects of work they do, which was very insightful and interesting. The strict regimentation is fully controlled and flawless, and the pride shines through.
