Action Mesothelioma Day

Action Mesothelioma Day

On 1st July 2022 Mavis Nye Foundation, DSK and Kent Science Park joined forces to host Action Mesothelioma Day. Since 2020, the UK Mesothelioma Alliance has brought together the mesothelioma community in a national event to support the many fantastic local events organised by support groups and charities.

What is Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. If affects the pleural lining, most commonly around the lungs and abdomen. A small number of asbestos fibres can cause this cancer to develop, although this usually occurs many years later. The time between exposure and development of mesothelioma is known as the latency period and can range between 10 and 70 years.
