Representing DSK on their recent visit to India were the over-35s Royal Navy football team, who took on the Indian Navy Team in a friendly yet fiercely competitive match.
Kirsty’s brother, Petty Officer John Paul Stevenson, shared his thoughts on the game, saying, “It was a great match, but the 35-degree heat got the better of us in the end. We accepted defeat at 5–3 — it was unlucky to lose, but the heat was on… literally!”
The game took place at the Indian Naval Base in Vasco da Gama, Goa, where the two teams not only competed on the pitch but also strengthened the bonds between the Royal and Indian Navies through sport and camaraderie.
Outside of football, John Paul continues to showcase his creative talents as the bass player in the HMS Prince of Wales rock band, The Lazy Sundays. The band has been entertaining audiences at various ports around the world, with one of their recent highlights being a live performance at the iconic Hard Rock Café in Singapore.
The visit and activities reflect the Royal Navy’s commitment to fostering international friendship, teamwork, and morale — whether through sport, music, or shared experiences at sea and ashore.
