Robin Bennet kindly invited those close to Mavis an opportunity to attend a small gathering in westminster to mark the first anniversary of Mavis passing on 21st November and to celebrate the incredible oil painting which has brought great comfort to Ray since Mavis passed away. This painting was commissioned to celebrate their amazing relationship as man and wife and also the amazing fundraising and campaigning they so greatly achieved together. The painting has been to several events and has been displayed in the Asbestos Museum in Rotterdam.
One wish Mavis had was for the painting to be in the houses of parliament one day. That has not yet been achieved however we had the opportunity to view the painting in one of the rooms is westminster. Local MP Julia Buckley kindly offered those that knew and were close to Mavis to come and pay their respects and to say a few words.
Kirsty had a lovely time viewing the incredible public areas and seeing friends in the industry. Hats off to Robin and Andrew Paten for arranging the safe transportation of the paining and for all you both do – true gents – thankyou. Special thanks also go to Craig Evans for delivering Ray’s words so respectfully you did him proud.
